Minister of Finance

Abdughani Hussein H. Hirad

The Minister of Finance sets and implements the government's economic policy. The Minister leads the Ministry in formulating and executing policies for fiscal stability, economic growth and effective management of public resources, oversees preparation of the budget and its presentation to Parliament, and represents the government in financial and economic discussions nationally and internationally.

  Deputy Minister of Finance

  Jaamac Daahir Qodax

  The Deputy Minister supports the Minister of Finance in carrying out the Ministry's general duties and represents the Minister at meetings at home and abroad in the Minister's absence. The Deputy Minister oversees the Ministry's departments so that their work follows the government's policies and plans, follows the implementation of the state budget and economic planning, and works to grow domestic revenue and control public spending. The Deputy Minister also supports the Minister's relations with donors and international banks, facilitates cooperation between the Ministry and the regional administrations, and promotes staff development and a transparent financial system that complies with the law.

  Director General

  Siciid Cabdiraxmaan Maxamed

  The Director General is the Ministry's chief executive officer, overseeing all operational, financial and administrative functions. The Director General links the Minister with the departments, coordinates their work so that every activity serves the Ministry's strategic objectives, and leads public financial management reforms.

  Heads the Accountant General's Office, which records the government's accounts and prepares the annual financial statements.
